The former head of furniture and product design at Cranbrook, Michael has just received the Smithsonian National Design Museum's very first Design Minds National Design Award with his wife Katherine for, in the words of the museum, "visionaries affecting a paradigm shift in design." His designs have received over 200 awards internationally and include the million-selling ergonomic Bulldog Chair for Knoll and award-winning furniture for other prestigious furniture makers including Conde House in Japan, Artifort in Europe and Arktiktura and Brayton in the US.

br> "Incident refers to the incidental intersection of the stainless steel legs that just touch lightly as they twist around each other like figures dancing in space."
